WINTER
CARNIVAL 2007
FINALLY!
SNOW!
After two
years of “tough sledding” mother nature finally cooperated and dumped
about 10 inches of powdery snow just before the winter carnival. The
storm created quite a travel mess and cut down on the publics
attendance. There was no lack of enthusiasm and we had 30 Chinooks and
their families help out with rides and two rings.
Hickory
Hill Rastro “King Daddy” made his debut and did not disappoint as he
pulled a childs sled on the groomed loop to the cheers of his riders and
his puppy owners. Hooked up with his son Chester they gave a ride to
the Clapps from Rockport, ME. Hooked up with his daughter Madawaska lets
just say it was interesting!
John &
Lesley Donais gave rides on the second loop and it was wonderful to see
their tem flying across the Remick property. Dave and Marie Borofka and
fionn helped with the rides also.
Many
thanks to all of you who came either with your Chinooks or to just
support the event. The village of Tamworth appreciates our support and
the “return of the Chinook.”
Later we
enjoyed and viewed the display that the Tamworth Historical Society has
been building over the years. It is a wonderful collection of the
history of sled dogs in the Tamworth region.
Later we
all enjoyed a dinner at the Tamworth Inn and socialized late in the
evening.
The 2008
Chinook and Tamworth Winter Carnival has been set for Saturday February
9th.
I hope to
see you all there for our annual trip back in time.
