Size, Proportion, Substance- The male should appear more massive throughout than the bitch, with larger frame and heavier bone.  Both dog and bitch should be rectangular, in direct proportion to height.  The length of the body from point of the shoulder to the rear point of the pelvis is slightly longer than the height of the body from the ground to the top of the withers.  The chest is deep, extending nearly to the elbow and moderately broad, with the deepest point being just behind the forelegs.  There is a definite tuck-up with a clearly defined waist at the flank.  The desirable range for males will be 25-28 at the shoulder and 70-90 pounds; females, 23-25 at the shoulder and 60-75 pounds.  The appearance should be that of a well-muscled dog with moderate bone that is capable of pulling heavy loads.  Size consideration should not outweigh that of type, proportion, movement, and other functional attributes of a working sled dog.  When dogs are judged equal in type, proportion, movement, the dog nearest the desirable size is to be preferred.
