Chinook
Summer Festival
June 29th -
July 1st, 2001 in Wonalancet NH
Chinook
owners and their Chinooks returned to their Chinook roots in Wonalancet,
NH for a celebration of lthe Chinook breed this summer.
Events kicked
off at the Remick Museum that had an exhibit of the history of sled dogs
in the region. The Perry Greene Kennel put on display Chinook's last
harness brought back from Little America and other harnesses.
A tour of the
Chinook Trail followed, and Chinook owners toured the Union Chapel, visited
Walden's graveside, Antler House, Wonalancet Farm and Chinook Kennels.
Special thanks
go to the Morton family for opening the Walden properties for a once in a
lifetime look at where Walden and the great Chinook lived.
Chinook owners
also became the first official visitors at Chinook Kennels, now the Chinook
Heritage Foundation.
After the tour
everyone met at the Tamworth Inn for a group dinner.
Thank you to the
Remick Museum, Tamworth Historical Society, David Bowles (Union Chapel),
George Cook (Chinook Kennels), and the Tamworth Inn for a warm welcome and
help making the Summer Festival such a success.
